NAJMUL JAHED ROTARY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Najmul Jahed Rotary School

The Jalalabad Rotary Elementary School has a capacity to hold 1400 student in two shifts morning and afternoon (700 students per shift). The primary school in Spring of 2004. One thousand students currently attend half of whom are boys and half girls. While the school is coeducational the boys and girls are taught in separate classrooms.

"It was gratifying to see that over 50 percent of the students were girls," "This is really important, for girls had been previously banned from attending school. Education is so fundamental and these people have so little. The school is a symbol of hope for the future. All you had to do was look in the eyes of the kids."
- Steve Brown at the inauguration of the Najmul Jahad Rotary School in March 2004.
